Requirement analysis, specification, and test design.

Work package (WP) 1 of the PLEIADES project has been finalised and resulted in important input and a roadmap for the subsequent technical WPs. WP1 included 4 subtasks aimed at defining the requirements for the PLEIADES concept, construction of a generic ontology for decommissioning, specifications for software and system design, as well as a clarification of the input data needed to test and demonstrate the PLEIADES pilot software platform.

Task 1.1 – Requirements set-up for the design of the PLEIADES concept

The main objective of task 1.1 was to perform a survey to acquire input on stakeholder needs related to the integrated decommissioning support ecosystem proposed by this project. A questionnaire was used to survey stakeholders and group discussions were carried out at the DigiDecom 2021 workshop, which included project partners and other attendees. The result of the gap analysis was then used as a base for developing a system architecture for the software prototype to be developed in the project, as well as for the design of the validation tests (defined in task 1.2) aiming at verifying compliance of the resulting system prototype with the requirements defined by WP1.

 

Task 1.2 – Specifications development for the PLEIADES system prototype & validation tests

In task 1.2, discussions among consortium partners, and experts outside the consortium, resulted in a description of functional software and system requirements. In order to derive practically applicable requirements and constraints for the design, validation and demonstration of the PLEIADES platform, user stories were developed in task 1.2. These user stories are decommissioning scenarios that will be carried out using input data provided by the partners for the PLEIADES platform demonstrations.

 

Task 1.3 – Input data/information (BIM) base design

Task 1.3 describes what data is required by the user stories (test cases) and what kind of database systems will best support these data types. The conclusion was to use a document-oriented database for the structured data and object storage for large files. The result of this task was used to develop the system architecture in task 2.1.

 

Task 1.4 – Ontology generation

The ontology development was carried out in task 1.4. The main objective of this task was to develop a nuclear decommissioning specific ontology. This ontology is a key element of the overall PLEIADES project as it ensures a common vocabulary for the further exchange between the software packages and the processes they support. Beyond that, the ontology also provides the technical basis for the development of a database for data management in the PLEIADES platform. As part of the ontology design, iUS organised a workshop where partners decided the top-level concepts in the PLEIADES ontology.

Server

The design and implementation of the PLEIADES database has progressed well based on specifications outlined in the WP1 tasks. The partners have now started to populate the database and the next phase will be to test the partner’s connector modules. Certain performance criteria for the user stories will be evaluated using data in the database.
